Curating Social Media Content From Other Sources

Scratching your head for social media content themes? We’ve got good news – you don’t have to create all of your content by yourself. There’s so much awesome content out there already that people have dedicated their time and expertise to producing.

What content should I share?

You can’t go wrong with high quality, reputable information that’s relevant to your business and audience. This information might come from an online journal, blog, industry association, and so on. Be sure to check the content is available to all visitors – not just subscribers. Being sent to an article that’s locked is more than a little annoying for your followers.

How do I find reputable content to share?

Here at 61 Design, we use three free tools that help us curate content quickly and easily.

• The first is good, old-fashioned Google Alerts, which is a great option for receiving notifications on selected keywords or topics you want to keep an eye on.

• The second is Feedly, a news aggregator app that helps you compile news feeds from a variety of online sources. Check it out https://feedly.com/

• Lastly, we follow specific hashtags to help us uncover relevant content we can share. This is great when browsing LinkedIn, which is a trove of high quality, authoritative, credible and trustworthy content if you know where to look.

How do I personalise shared content?

When sharing other people’s content, add your own spin to help establish yourself as an expert in your industry. You can also ask questions and engage your audience to gather intel. Ask open ended questions, like “what resonates most with you in this article?”

Do I need to credit my shared content?

Absolutely. Always credit the source of your content by tagging them in your comment.

When it comes to creating diverse content that’s relevant and helpful to your audience, that’s something we know very well. Whether you need a lot of help with your social media, or a little. Go on, test us.  Contact us.
